“The next morning, Bitterblue walked into the library with a journal under her arm and stopped before Death’s desk” - Bitterblue, Kristin Cashore
Hello, everyone! Welcome to my About Me page, a page that’s title is so self-discriptive that it blows my mind.
My name is Alice and I am a fourth year university student studying English Literature and a first year polytech student studying Tourism.
I’m New Zealand born and have an older sister, elvesarebad, and a little brother who is a guitar genius. Both have a reasonably firm grip on mathematics, a skill which I both envy and am incredibly glad I do not possess all at the same time.
I was raised mostly by my dad. He’s an engineer at a fruit processing plant and, despite having spent years listening to him describing the various mishaps at his work, I still have no idea what a press is. I saw one in person once but it mustn’t have made a very big impression because all I remember of that day was developing a distaste for carrot juice.
I’m also a writer. Between my intensely depressing bouts of inspiration block, I’ve managed to write at least one novel. It was terrible but I learnt a lot in the process. I have set it aside in favour of a new project, which I hope to complete by the end of my time at university. If not, I hope to spend my time helping my sister start up her bookstore. That’s if she’ll have me, of course!
I love to read. My favourite author is Sarah Beth Durst, who I happily followed off a cliff when she released Drink Slay Love, a book about vampires and vampire hunting were-unicorns. To this day, I still regret nothing.
I am also hopelessly addicted to movies, miniseries (forever waving the miniseries flag), and TV shows. My favourite movie is Timeline but I also really love The Princess Bride. I’m also a huge Disney fan and my favourite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast but my favourite Disney princess is Jasmine. Along with Disney, I also have a passion for Bollywood films. Trust me, don’t let what people have told you about Bollywood put you off. Pretty much all the Bollywood films I have seen are amazing! My favourite miniseries is BBC’s North and South but I also love Syfy’s Tinman, The Tenth Kingdom, and Syfy’s Alice.
